Machester Press, Melbourne CBD, Melbourne

Manchester Press is one of those small hipster cafes located in a small laneway in Melbourne. Being a Sydney-sider and not familiar with the streets of Melbourne at all, I was glad to be taken around by a Melbournian to this place.

Even on a weekday, the cafe was relatively packed and our group of four only just managed to grab an end of a larger table. The specialty here appears to be bagels with a variety of open and closed, sweet and savoury bagels.

Chorizo open bagel - $15  the bagel is sliced in half and topped with grilled chorizo, capsicum, corn, goats cheese and salsa verde. The bagel is fresh and dense, going well with the heavy toppings without it crumbling or soaking through. The flavours are strong and so there is also a pickle on the side which provides a bit of acidity to cut through some of that.

There's also a side of salted pretzels in most of the bagel dishes which was a bit random but we managed to finish all of them whilst we were there.

Rayshay's, Liverpool, Sydney West

I haven't been to Liverpool in a while but found myself out there one night and and decided to grab a feed. Not knowing where was good after not being in the area of many years, a quick google search showed that Rashay's had a good number of ratings.

There's a few of them around but we went to the one close to Liverpool towncentre. The restaurant kind of reminds of a Pancakes at the rocks. Large, bright, clean with glossy menus. Looks like a good place to bring a big group.

Chicken Schnitzel and pasta - $20 - a piece of schnitzel on top of a cream based pasta sauce with mushrooms. The chicken was OK but a bit oily. The pasta was also OK but the sauce tasted a bit artificial.

A mini meal consisting of chips and a min chicken parmigiana ~$14 - the chicken was smaller than the other dish but had some nice flavours to it. The chips were OK but nothing you couldn't get at your local takeaway.

Overall, a tad expensive for some average quality food. Good for big groups though if you want to organise a catchup.

Metro one kebab, Ashfield, Sydney inner west

Quick post on Metro one kebab. Located on the main strip of Ashfield, its the perfect place to get a late night feed after a big night out if you're headed that way. If headed south go for Brothers kebab on Princes highway. Recommend the mixed snack pack of beef and chicken kebab meat with chips and loaded with a mix of garlic, tomato and bbq sauce.

Kebab snack pack - $11.50
